PELICAN RAPIDS GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB
Serving the town of Fort Smith, Northwest Territories (NWT), the Pelican Rapids Golf and Country Club (PRGC) is host to the most northerly golf course in Alberta. Overlooking the Slave River, the course is just two kilometres south of the 60th parallel - the border between Alberta and NWT.
The course which opens each year in early May and closes in late September, is a challenging, tree-lined, nine-hole layout with irrigated grass fairways and artificial greens with second cut fringes designed by Southwest Greens. Amenities include a fully-licensed clubhouse, a driving range, club rentals and power-cart rentals. The golf club has an average of 150 members per year, and local and visiting green fees players are always welcome. The PRGC is famous for its warm hospitality and wonderful scenery. The lookout deck at the first tee is in itself worth the visit, providing excellent view of world-class whitewater rapids.
